Sleeping Dog Ranch Nubian Goats

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How did you come up with the name Sleeping Dog Ranch?
A: It fits the family mantra. We never realized how many hours our dogs slept before. But now we know they have the right idea. During a conversation about what to name our new ranch, Husband Bob noticed that all the dogs were sleeping as he tip-towed over, around, and through their path. They didn't move.  Hence the mantra. Sleeping Dog Ranch is perfect for our lifestyle out here.

When I had pneumonia and slept for several days. But, you know what, my Liebchen still out-slept me! I never tried to out-sleep the dogs again.

Q: Where did you get your German Shorthaired Pointers?

A: All of our dogs are from rescue leagues. Way too many wonderful, loving dogs need homes. We will always support rescue facilities for both our dogs and cats.

Additional Questions

Q: How did you get in the goat business anyway?
A: Several things happened that lead to us to the goat business.

  1. Our neighbor had goats in the pasture that we drove by to get into our home. That was the first time I had been up close and personal with a goat. They were cute jumping from one mound to another.
  2. I had fallen in love with the milk. It was manna from the Gods.
  3. I rationalized that having a couple of goats would mow a portion of our pasture so I wouldn't have to mow it. Husband finally said OK.

Once you get into the goat world, you're hooked. They are such delightful creatures; fun to watch, easy to care for, delightful to interact with. We're amazed at how many folks had goats when the were children. All of these folks speak fondly of their childhood memories.
